Q: How do I find a yard, garage, tag or moving sales, estate sales, or items for sale in my area?
A: Go to Find Sales/Items enter your "start point" (use a specific address or simply enter a zip/postal code) and the distance you are willing to go to see things - then "Search". If you are looking for a specific item, enter it in the box provided - then "Search". To search for different kinds of sales, click advanced search and select the type of sale.
Q: What if I am looking for a specific sale that I saw listed someplace and i have the Sale ID code?
A: Go to Find Sales/Items, enter the Sale ID and click "Search"
Q: What if I am looking for a specific item?
A: Go to Find Sales/Items, enter the item you are seeking, enter the distance you are willing to go.
Q: What if I can't find what I am looking for?
A: If you are looking for a specific item, like a bent wood rocker, go to Find Sales/Items enter "rocker," or "rocking chair", usually a 1 word entry will give more results. This should make your search easier. By entering the item without detailed descriptions, you will get a larger list.
If you still cannot find the item you are looking for at this time consider registering and becoming a Premium Member. As a Premium Member, login to your account, click the Email Alerts button and add an e-mail alert for the product you are interested in. If anything is posted that matches your criteria, an e-mail notification will be sent to you.
Q: What does "distance" mean?
A: You may search for sales/items as far from your home or starting point as you like. If you want to look within a certain distance from your start point, enter the furthest distance you are willing to go and we will find the sales/sellers within that radius.

We do NOT accept "adult" or pornographic items, descriptions or photos.
Q: How much does creating a sale listing cost?
A: Nothing at all - all listings are free! However, you can upgrade your account to Premium Membership to get the benefit of the enhanced services provided to our Premium Members. Click here to see all the benefits of upgrading your account!
Q: How do I sign up to have a sale?
A: Login to your account or click Post Sales/Items. Manage your items by creating items, adding item images and descriptions or delete items. Once you have added all the items you want, click the Manage Listings tab and create a listing. Assign the items you wish to sell to the appropriate listing. Click update and the listing is posted. Return to this area to modify items or listings.
Q: How do I edit a posting?
A: Login to your account.
Go to "My Account" (top right corner of yardsales.com home page)
Click on the "MANAGE SALES/ITEMS" button (4th button on right above "Edit Account Information" )
to Modify listing information by clicking on "Manage Listings" (gray inactive tab) or
to Add items by clicking on the "+ Add Items" button
to Edit existing items click on the item in your list and edit on the right side
When done click on the Update (blue button)
Q: What is a "Sale Type"?
A: A Sale Type can be:
- Yard Sale - includes Garage, Tag and Moving sales (i.e. a traditional general sale at a specific location and time). The posting will be visible to the public and searchable for the 2 weeks prior to the last day of the sale.
- Estate Sale (i.e. an auction or home sale) Estate sales are usually conducted by a professional and are used to sell or liquidate most of the contents of the home. The posting for an Estate Sale will be visable to the public and searchable for the 2 weeks prior to the last day of the sale.
- Items Sale (i.e. like a classified ad, simply items for sale with no time or date of a sale). The posting will be visible to the public and searchable for 2 weeks after the date the information is posted.
Q: How do I list the items I have for sale?
A: Register with Yardsales.com by going to Post Sales/Items. Register, then list your items.
Q: After I list my items, how do I add a picture to the site?
A: When you enter the item, we recommend you add at least one photo. Continue on to the "Add Photo" listing. Add a photo from your own files (digital camera/your computer files/your own diskette). If you do not have photos at the time you make your listing, you can always add images at a later time. There is no charge for adding images and each item is limited to six images.
Q: How do I advertise my business, (Antique Shop, Thrift Store or a Second Hand Store) to let Shoppers know I have new merchandise?"
A: Create an Items Sale. After you register with Yardsales.com, and have indicated that you are a business, you can enter your store hours in the sale description area available in step 3. You can also update/change the date of your active listing at any time and therefore keep your sale items active until sold. Also, please Contact us for information about advertising on our site.
Q: Will you protect my privacy?

Q: What do I do with the things left over after the sale?
A: Any items that you do not successfully sell will remain in your items list for you to post at another time. Delete items from your manage items list that do sell successfully to keep your list up to date.
